Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I’m a male second year University student and am on the University football team and feels Iike I Have to put in extra workouts to be able to compete with the other football players. Lately I have noticed a drop in my performance, I have muscle soreness in my legs, and am always feeling tired, and have a loss of appetite. As a result, I works out even harder to try to work through this low point. I maintain a healthy diet and doesn’t use performance enhancing steroids or weight lifting supplements, but still am required to do random blood tests as part of the football teams drug testing policy. I have a high HDL (high density lipoprotein) and BUN (blood urea nitrogen) level as my last blood test results say, but I don’t know what is wrong with me
For athletes, elevated levels of HDL will be there. However, elevated blood urea nitrogen may be due to muscle breakdown, increased intake of protein, infection, glomerulonephritis or kidney problems etc.
Get renal function tests, muscle biopsy, serum creatinine phosphokinase levels etc., done.
Use tablet Evion LC.
Please consult your physician, he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care.
